The Scholarship Fund has been established to encourage young people of Alliance Bible Church to further their education at Christian institutes of higher learning. Alliance Bible Church is quite specific about what is meant by “Christian”. The college must be Evangelical in doctrine, philosophy, and practice. If you should have any questions about whether your college of choice meets the eligibility requirements of this church, please contact the Church Office. You may be asked to supply a brochure from the college that would include its doctrinal statement.
In addition, this fund is entirely supported through gift giving and specific designation giving through weekly offering envelopes and is not a part of the Alliance Bible Church budget. This means that each year we must raise the funds that are distributed. Therefore the amount contributed to these funds each year varies and this variation along with the number of applications dictates the scholarship dollars awarded each year. The committee members read the applications and rank them according to the criteria mentioned in the following paragraph.
The Scholarship Committee wishes to emphasize that need will not play a part in the Committee’s decision. These awards are for scholarship, not aid. Some of the criteria that will play a role in the Committee’s decision includes but is not limited to service, achievement, course of study, faith in Christ, completeness and quality of the application, etc.
Please note that two applications are available—one for graduating high school students and one for continuing undergraduate college students. Complete only the one that applies to you.
If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will be asked to write a note of appreciation to the congregation. Also, to ensure the future success of the Scholarship Fund, we would hope that you would be willing to share your experiences with others in the church, perhaps by speaking to the youth about the benefits of attending a Christian college.
The Scholarship Committee is pleased that you are now attending or plan to attend a Christian college, and looks forward to receiving your application materials.
The deadline for receiving applications at the church is the second Saturday in March. Because of the review process and the announcement date, which will be in mid-April, no exceptions will be made for late applications.
